Thistle Floor lamp
This modern floor lamp from solid wood with the thistle lampshade and leafy, comes in solid oak (beech and ash coming).
Studio Snowpuppe & Studio Tumult teamed up and created this floor lamp, in which the love for paper & wood come together. Each Thistle floor lamp is handcrafted in Brielle, a small historical city in The Netherlands.
The wooden lamp base is reminiscent of flower bulbs. As the little roots firmly sprout in the ground, the stem bursts into the air revealing the beautiful delicate flower that is formed by the lampshade. All the pieces are handcrafted, cut, drilled and milled locally in the studio Tumult workshop in Brielle. studiotumult.etsy.com
The Thistle light design is the result of new inspirations and an interest finding new ways of folding that are inspired by origami techniques. The first new folding technique that has been used, is a combination of origami folding and paper cutting. The shape of the Thistle lamp is curved, but at the same time the paper-cuts create a pointy appearance. The lamp has straight folds that are made into a curve by the paper-cuts. This creates a classic shape with a surprising lighting effect. The delicate paper-cuts create a sparkling light play and a feeling of transparency.
The dimensions of this floor lamp are:
- 172 cm height;
- 62 cm foot diameter;
The dimensions of the lamp shade are:
- 60 cm height;
- 50 cm diameter;
The dimensions of the leafy are:
- 40 cm length;
- 23 cm width;
The floor lamp has a cable length of 4,5 meter and is dimmable.
The floor lamp comes in two pieces for safe shipping, and is easily assembled by you. Be aware that wooden parts might be subjected to slight changes in shape and size, due to its natural origin and environmental conditions. The lamp shade arrives flat-folded and needs to be assembled by you. Everything is carefully packaged to allow the lamp to travel around the world safely!
